The patron saint of Segrate is Saint Roch, celebrated on 16 August. In the Milano Oltre district stands the 17th-century church of San Rocco, next to the town cemetery.
The municipality, whose settlement is documented as far back as 600 AD near the ancient church of Santo Stefano, seat of a centuries-old parish, is made up of several distinct hamlets: among them Redecesio, almost entirely residential, and Novegro, home to the town's well-known fair. The earliest records of Segrate's history date back to the 9th century.
