Feast of Maria Assunta and San Rocco
📅 Every year, on 15 and 16 August
On 15 and 16 August Camparada, a municipality of 2,074 inhabitants in the province of Monza and Brianza, celebrates its patrons Maria Assunta (Assumption of Mary) and San Rocco.
Camparada is one of the very few comuni in Lombardy without a parish church of its own. The only point of reference is the church of Santa Eurosia, which stands inside the Masciocco farmstead, and the village's patronal feast is the sagra del Masciocco: it is held in the days around the fifteenth of August, for the Assumption and for saint Roch, in a farmyard.
The name, on the other hand, is on the coat of arms: a ploughed field. They are canting arms, because Camparada probably comes from the medieval Latin campora, the plural of campus, and from the adjective for ploughed — the ploughed fields, precisely. Of fields, for that matter, there was little else: in 1751 the inhabitants were 125, and in the Napoleonic period the village was annexed first to Lesmo, in 1809, and then to Usmate, in 1811, before becoming a comune again; by 1853 they had reached 379.
