Costa de' Nobili

Province: Pavia · Region: Lombardy · Population: 351 · Postal code: 27010

Until 1863 the village was called Costa San Zenone; the name it bears now, the nobles' slope, came with the great season of renamings of those years. The nobles, though, were real: from 1475 the place belonged to the Este, and from 1757 to the princes Barbiano di Belgioioso, within the vicariate of Belgioioso.

The castle is of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries: two buildings joined by a tower in the middle, and one of them, the old palace, is today the town hall. The village stands on the left bank of the Olona, in the flat country south-east of Pavia.
