The patron saints of Mortara are Saint Lawrence the Martyr and Saint Veneranda, a virgin and martyr of the early Christian centuries also venerated in Sezze, Ascoli Piceno, Fermignano and Pesaro, celebrated on 10 August.
On the last Sunday of September, the Palio Città di Mortara is run: it recreates the court of Ludovico il Moro, and the town's six districts — San Cassiano, Le Braide, La Torre, San Dionigi, Il Moro and Sant'Albino — parade in historical costume before competing in the Game of the Goose in Piazza Silvabella. The same day also sees the Goose Salami Festival, known to locals as «Sagra dell'Oca». The town also holds the Cathedral of Mortara and the Abbey of Sant'Albino.
