The patron saint of Montecassiano is Saint Joseph, celebrated on 19 March.
Every year, from the third week of July, for about ten days, the traditional Palio dei Terzieri is held: the whole town magically dives back into the Middle Ages and rediscovers its ancient medieval borgo with costumes and games. The competition between the three thirds involves various challenges, culminating in the final evening with the joust of knights, at the end of which, in Piazza Giacomo Leopardi, the Palio is awarded and the winning third declared. The town also holds the Palazzo dei Priori and the Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta.
