The patron of Guglionesi is Saint Adam the Abbot, celebrated on 2 and 3 June: it is the main feast, the most eagerly awaited by every Guglionesano. The programme includes performances by nationally known singers, midday band matinées and evening band performances on both days, as well as a large fireworks display. The high point of the celebrations is the enthronement of the saint, brought out of the crypt and vault dedicated to him, his usual place: this is the medieval crypt of the collegiate church of Santa Maria Maggiore, an ancient 10th-century church originally dedicated to Saint Peter, rebuilt in the 12th century and given its final Baroque layout in 1796, while still keeping its underground medieval structure. The town also has a walk past its springs, including the fountain of Sant'Adamo.
