Valmacca

Province: Alessandria · Region: Piedmont · Population: 1,055 · Postal code: 15040

Valmacca was founded in 1355. At the end of the fourteenth century, the local family extinct, the land passed to the lords of Casale. The castle still stands, and today it houses the town council.

The other building is the parish church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Its bell tower is of bare brick, with two clock faces on different sides and the bell in view inside the belfry arch; lower down, on peeling plaster, the drawing of an old sundial survives.
