Scurzolengo

Province: Asti · Region: Piedmont · Population: 596 · Postal code: 14030

Scurzolengo — Scurslengh in Piedmontese — is a village in the Astesana, the old country around Asti. Its coat of arms says at once what the land lives on: a bunch of grapes and a chestnut burr, the two main products of the area, and stars standing for the hamlets the municipality is made of.

From a place this small came two men who went on to work far away. Primo Nebiolo led the world athletics federation from 1981 until his death in 1999. Piero Dusio, an industrialist, was president of Juventus during the years of the Second World War and founded Cisitalia, the car maker whose vehicles Tazio Nuvolari raced.
