Campiglia Cervo

Province: Biella · Region: Piedmont · Population: 528 · Postal code: 13812

The village sits on the left bank of the Cervo, the sunnier side, called here the banda sulia. The comune was born on 22 August 1694, when the upper valley broke free of Andorno with Campiglia as its centre; the other settlements soon broke free in turn, winter travel being hard.

In 2016 Quittengo and San Paolo Cervo came back into the same comune. Beside the parish church of Saints Bernard and Joseph rises a bell tower of bare stone; the technical school of building and road construction, born of an idea of Cavour, trained for about a century the skilled hands of a valley whose men left for building sites.
