Saint Peter the Apostle, patron of the Biella town
📅 Every year, on 29 June
Gaglianico celebrates Saint Peter on 29 June, in the church dedicated to him.
The name may come from the Latin patronymic Gallianus; another reading traces it to inhabitants of Celtic origin, referred to as Gaul or Caul. The present arms date from 1993 and replaced one used for nearly a century, which looked too much like the arms of the duchy of Savoy.
The parish church of San Pietro is a seventeenth- and eighteenth-century remaking of a building the documents already name in 1207; the bell tower was finished in 1727 and is the work, like the front, of Siletti of Mongrando. On the old road to Sandigliano stands the oratory of San Rocco, with sixteenth-century frescoes.
