At Mulini, where a stream runs into the Olobbia, a sulphurous spring was thought curative in the nineteenth century: in 1872 the locals enclosed it in a small brick tower, a restaurant opened beside it and people came from far off. Vermogno has the Bessa park visitor centre and the Gold Museum.

In the summer of 1944, after a partisan action, the Germans gathered the heads of families and shut them in what is now the town hall, sentencing them to death. The priest, don Riccardo Alberto, offered his own life instead: they refused, but with the podestà Gaetano Manfredi he had them freed. Five young men, not from the village, were shot instead.
