Palazzo Canavese sits at the foot of the morainic ridge called the Serra, near Lake Viverone, with vines on the slopes and wheat and maize below. The via delle Gallie ran through here, the consular road of Augustus that joined the Po plain to Gaul, and the Canavese branch of the Via Francigena still does, between Bollengo and Piverone.
The patron saint is Genesius, a mime and actor martyred in Rome in the third century: part of his relics, which probably reached the Canavese with the pilgrims of the Francigena, is kept in the parish church, whose yellow and white front closes the square. The village band has played since 1822.
