Feast of San Nazario
📅 Every year, on 31 July
On 31 July Bosia, a municipality of 181 inhabitants in the province of Cuneo, celebrates its patron San Nazario.
Bosia lies in the Alta Langa, on the slopes above the Belbo. Its first firm record is an imperial diploma: in 1001 Otto III confirmed the place to Olderico, marquis of Susa. Of the castle little is left but the memory: like the one at nearby Cravanzana it belonged to the Del Carretto and served more for watching and signalling than for fighting, part of the chain of Langa castles.
On Good Friday 1679, after a winter of boundless snow, seeping water brought the hillside down: the landslide took the castle, the houses of the main village and the graveyard. Tradition holds that no one survived; an unpublished manuscript built on archive research seems to show there were no victims, and points to a land register of 1684 kept in the village, listing the 82 names that made up the Community. The arms show six green poplars on blue, under a gold letter B.
