Lequio Berria, Lech in Piedmontese, is a comune in the Alta Langa, province of Cuneo. The name is thought to come from the Celtic leak, “milestone”; others prefer the Latin lucus, read as “wood” or as “white”, or the Celtic name Leucus. Berria's origin is unclear: it appears in no medieval document.
The coat of arms backs the first reading: a milestone in natural colours, M above and LB below, on a green plain under a blue sky. The civil protection building holds the permanent Soft Pastel Collection, the only one in Italy, begun in 2001 thanks to professor Luigi Carbone and the painter Pierre Tchakhotine: about 133 works.
