Feast of the Corpi Santi
📅 Every year, on the second Sunday and the third Monday of October
On the second Sunday of October Faule, a municipality of 496 inhabitants in the province of Cuneo, celebrates the Corpi Santi (Holy Bodies), its patrons.
The name comes from the beech: the land must have been a beech wood. Fagus became Fagulae, the form in a deed of 1040, then phale, Faloa and Faulae. The coat of arms repeats the beech and adds a small lake, Capalla, emptied by drought between the Seventies and the Eighties, now a hollow, part farmed, part marsh.
The castle is fourteenth-century: bare brick, a portico on square piers, a round tower behind the boundary wall; of the stronghold before it only the lower towers remain. In 1928 the regime attached Faule to Polonghera, and the Faulesi complained that part of the town archive was destroyed; after the war it was a comune again.
