Murello

Province: Cuneo · Region: Piedmont · Population: 962 · Postal code: 12030

Murello lies on the plain of the province of Cuneo, on the right bank of the Varaita; in Piedmontese it is Murel. The municipal gonfalon is a plain yellow cloth, and the houses gather around the square of the parish church.

That church, dedicated to St John the Baptist, is built entirely of bare brick: a pointed portal under a terracotta moulding, a bell tower rising above the front, with the clock halfway up and a spire between four pinnacles. The forecourt is paved in brick; beyond the wall, behind the apse, the low roofs of the village begin.
