Benevello — Benevel in Piedmontese — is a hill village in the Langhe of Cuneo province, bordering Alba. The arms are red, crossed by five silver bars and charged with a halberd head, beneath a plain nobility crown.
The castle stands at the village's highest point: the Falletti marquises commissioned it in the fourteenth century from the brothers Simonino and Pietro. It began as a fortification; successive owners reshaped it into a country residence, and in 1881 the blessed Faà di Bruno bought it. It is a bulky block on a scarped base, wedged between two round capped towers, though the outer plaster has partly altered its appearance.
