On 22 September Sommariva Perno celebrates the Holy Cross; the village also preserves the Mirafiori Castle.
Around the centre, along the main roads, stood four other villages: nothing of them is left today, apart from a few skeletons that have come to light. The only trace is the name of a church, the Madonna del Tavoletto, which comes from the old settlement of Thevoletum.
The castle, already recorded in the Middle Ages, was bought by Vittorio Emanuele II to house Rosa Vercellana, the Bela Rosin, who arrived in 1859: at the king's wish the building was made over into an austere nineteenth-century mansion. The original text of the speech in which the king spoke of the "cry of pain" is kept here.
