Boca

Province: Novara · Region: Piedmont · Population: 1,227 · Postal code: 28010

Boca lies in the hills of the province of Novara and gave its name to a red DOC wine. The counts of Biandrate held the land and in 1217 handed it to Vercelli, which granted it in fief to other lords of the same family: back to the start. Its arms carry three gold wheels, the emblem of the Rovida marquises, who held Boca until the feudal age ended.

The sanctuary of the Santissimo Crocifisso is the work of Alessandro Antonelli: a white colonnade and, behind it, a red brick block rising over two tiers of windows. The hill to the north-west has been in the Monte Fenera nature park since 1987.
