Angrogna is a side valley of the Pellice, and its history is Waldensian. In 1532, at Chanforan, the synod of the Waldensian churches of Italy, France, Calabria and Apulia chose to join the Protestant Reformation and print the Olivetan Bible, which appeared three years later. In 1555 the first Protestant temple on the peninsula was built here.

The Ciabàs temple is of the sixteenth century. Until 1794 Protestants could not be buried in Piedmontese cemeteries, and the remains of several foreign figures who died in Piedmont were taken in here. The white gable still carries the lit candlestick with the motto Lux lucet in tenebris and, below it, a verse from Isaiah in French.
