Cambiano

Cambiano lies at the foot of the Turin hills, a little south-east of the city. The name probably comes from Cambius, a personal name latinised from an earlier Celtic form, and appears for the first time in a deed of sale of 959, written in the plural as Cambianis.

The coat of arms is a pun: a white dog on a red field, chosen for the echo between Cambiano and canem album. The parish church of Saints Vincent and Anastasius has a front designed by Vittone in 1735, and beside it stands the bell tower of 1883, very slender, built with the bricks of the old medieval tower pulled down that same year.
