In December 1232 the men of Pecetto, led by one Obertino, came down on Testona: they wrecked fields and vineyards, burned the bell tower and carried off two bells, the books, the vestments and the sacred vessels. For that sacrilege pope Gregory IX excommunicated in aeternum Obertino and all his male descendants born at Pecetto.
One of the streams coming down the hill is called the Vajors, and the name is said to come from the Piedmontese ij ri dj'òss, the stream of bones: in 1345, not far off, the battle of Gamenario was fought, and a great many Angevin soldiers were left on its bank.
