Until the Fascist years the village was officially Chianoc; it is still Cianoch in Piedmontese, Tsanuch in Franco-Provençal and Chanoux in French. In the Susa valley four medieval buildings stand on the slopes west of the rio Prebec, a few hundred metres apart.
The casaforte is one of the least altered: bare stone, a crenellated crown, a slate roof leaning against its flank and the road running past. Lower down, the deconsecrated church of San Pietro was raised again and again against the ground the Prebec floods piled up, and finally abandoned. There remain the castle of the Bertrandi and the chapel of Sant'Ippolito, now in the middle of the cemetery.
