Feast of Sant'Anna
📅 Every year, on the last Sunday of July
On the last Sunday of July Garzigliana, a municipality of 557 inhabitants in the province of Turin, celebrates its patroness Sant'Anna.
Garzigliana probably takes its name from a place where the gaggia, the acacia, grew thick. The village sits on flat ground with no single centre: the houses scatter into hamlets still called by their old name of Regioni. On the coat of arms, party gold and azure, stands a red castle with one tower in the middle and square Guelph merlons.
The sanctuary of Montebruno has a brick bell tower closing in a grey spire, four pinnacles at the corners and a statue on top; the white front is ruled by terracotta pilaster strips, with a rose window above the pointed doorway. The other church, of Saints Benedict and Donatus, dates from 1762.
