Until 1939, official records registered this Piedmontese municipality as Leyni or Leynì. Although the spelling was modified before the Second World War, the local dialect still preserves the traditional stressed pronunciation of the final vowel, keeping a minor historical anecdote alive.
Located roughly 13 kilometres north of Turin, Leini sits firmly within the metropolitan boundaries of the regional capital. The town currently supports a population of 15,320 residents across the northern plains.
