Lombardore, twenty kilometres north of Turin, still shows its medieval core: two gateways of the old wall face each other on the town hall square, brick-built with pointed arches. One keeps its swallowtail merlons, now swallowed by later masonry; the other still shows the groove where an iron grate ran. Behind the town hall the wall is made of river cobbles.
The town's arms repeat that gateway, silver on blue. The parish church of Sant'Agapito closes a paved forecourt between two low wings pierced by brick arches: above the door a mosaic of the Virgin, on either side an empty niche. The old firing range now lies inside the Vauda nature reserve.
