Feast of Saints Peter and Paul
📅 Every year, on 29 June
On 29 June Montalenghe, a municipality of 1,030 inhabitants in the province of Turin, celebrates its patrons Saints Peter and Paul.
Montalenghe lies in the middle of the Canavese, south of Ivrea. Its name joins monte to the Germanic patronymic Adeling or Allo; another reading takes it from Montislega locus silvestris, a settlement lying in tongues in woodland. In the woods sits the Pera del Vais, an erratic boulder left by the last glaciation, one flank polished smooth because it has always served as a slide.
The arms with three mountains, in use since 1980, were never made official; in 2018 the townspeople chose by referendum to add the monumental cedar, three hundred years old. The parish church of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie goes back to 1760, with a brick bell tower and a clock.
