Orio Canavese

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 829 · Postal code: 10010

Orio Canavese comes down to three buildings: the late baroque church of San Rocco, the parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin, and the seventeenth-century castle, which in 1833 passed from the Birago marquises to the de la Tour. Films and documentaries have often been shot there.

What stands out at the parish church is the bell tower: a brick shaft with a painted clock face halfway up and, at the top, a chamber with two arched windows under the cornice. The body of the church alternates courses of brick with bands of river cobbles, and the change is plain to see.
