The patroness of Montanaro is the Assumption of Mary, celebrated on 15 August in the church of Santa Maria Assunta e San Nicolao.
The Montanaro Carnival is a deeply felt festivity for the community and lasts about ten days, with various activities and festivities held around the town: the typical masks of the carnival body are the Ciaplera, a young woman, and the General, a town gentleman, as well as the classic float parade. The municipal territory also holds the Castello di Montanaro and the feudal castle, as well as the Mulino dei Boschi.
