Piobesi Torinese

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 3,713 · Postal code: 10040

Out of the village, in open fields, stands the Romanesque parish church of San Giovanni, of the eleventh century. The present parish church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin, is far more recent: it was consecrated in 1892. Of the old castle the tower remains, and the civic library now occupies its ground floor.

Between 1904 and 1934 Piobesi was the terminus of a steam tramway running to Turin. The Chisola stream crosses the territory, and the comune borders Candiolo, None, Vinovo, Castagnole Piemonte and Carignano.
