The town lived for a long time on tupin, terracotta pots: in the nineteenth century there were fourteen workshops, digging their clay from their own pits and selling across Piedmont. After the war new materials for making pots arrived and the trade collapsed.
In the Middle Ages the main settlement was not San Secondo but Miradolo, with its fortress held from the abbey of Santa Maria di Pinerolo: it was destroyed in the late sixteenth century in the fighting between the French and the Savoy-Spanish troops. The town then took over and became a county of the Bianco, whose castle in the centre was later pulled down.
