Villareggia

Province: Turin · Region: Piedmont · Population: 1,012 · Postal code: 10030

Villareggia lies at the eastern edge of the Canavese, on the left bank of the Dora Baltea; the hill rising to the north, Moncrivello, already belongs to the province of Vercelli. In Piedmontese the village is La Vila Regia.

Of the old ricetto a tower and an arch are left. There are two churches of San Martino: the parish one, in the oldest part of the village, and a second on the hill above, yellow-plastered, with an oculus over the doorway and a flank of stone and brick. Santa Marta stands here too, and the sanctuary of the Beata Vergine del Trompone, just outside the houses but already on Moncrivello's ground.
