The patron of Gignese is Saint Maurice, titular of the parish church, celebrated on the first Sunday of January.
The saint has been venerated in the town since 1665, when relics arrived from Rome; the church, rebuilt in the first half of the 18th century, holds a Deposition by Fermo Stella from 1562. Gignese also hosts the Museo dell'Ombrello e del Parasole, the umbrella and parasol museum.
