Caresanablot

Province: Vercelli · Region: Piedmont · Population: 1,137 · Postal code: 13030

The name of Caresanablot carries two villages. This land belonged to the same estate as Caresana, at the opposite edge of the feudal holdings, and had to be kept distinct; beside it stood Albellione, which faded and vanished in the early sixteenth century. That village's name was lost, and what stayed was that of the Bellotto, a family of standing.

The general survey of 1710 records the community as «Carezana e Belotto», and by 1744 the second half had shrunk to Blot. Facing the town hall stands the church of Santa Cecilia, rebuilt in 1601 over an older one; a painted panel on the gable shows the saint at the organ.
