"Grana dat et vina" — grain and wine — runs the town motto, but Gravina's master scene is the ravine that cuts it: the gravina itself, vaulted by the seventeenth-century aqueduct bridge made world-famous by the chase in "No Time to Die", the Bond film shot here in 2019. Beneath the city runs another city: cellars, rock churches and tunnels of underground Gravina.
The Alta Murgia national park is headquartered here, and the countryside is a plateau of masserie and drove roads. Gravina bread and cardoncelli mushrooms set the table; the Saint George fair, held since 1294, is among Italy's oldest.
