Cisternino celebrates Saints Quiricus and Julitta on the first Sunday of August, the «feast of San Quirico» that marks the end of summer for locals and visitors alike; Saint Nicholas of Bari, co-patron, is celebrated on 6 December instead.

The patron saints of Cisternino are Saints Quiricus and Julitta, celebrated on the first Sunday of August with a solemn procession: the occasion, more simply called «the feast of San Quirico», marks for locals and visitors alike the end of the summer season. The town's co-patron is Saint Nicholas of Bari, celebrated on 6 December.

On 8 September, the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin, the town's artisans established another traditional celebration, the fair of 8 September, carrying in procession the sculptural group of the Virgin with the infant girl, now kept in the church of San Nicola. Among the year's most eagerly awaited folk events is also Pasquetta, called in local dialect «Pasquarèdde». Cisternino, a whitewashed village of the Itria Valley, also holds the sanctuary of the Madonna d'Ibernia, together with numerous historic buildings such as Palazzo Lagravinese and Palazzo Vescovile.
