The patroness of Volturara Appula is Maria Santissima della Sanità, celebrated on the first Sunday of May; the village holds the church of Maria Santissima della Sanità.
During the feast a wooden statue of the Madonna holding the Baby Jesus, dressed in the rich votive donations accumulated over the years, is carried in procession through the streets of the town. In January Sant'Antonio abate (Saint Anthony the Abbot) is celebrated, with bonfires lit along the streets. The municipality also holds the Monte Orlando, Coppa San Pietro and Toppo Accitauro.
