The patron of Castro is Our Lady of the Annunciation, celebrated from 24 to 26 April: on the evening of the 24th comes a fireworks competition, followed by the sagra del pesce a sarsa (fish stew festival). On 12 and 13 August comes instead the feast of the Madonna del Rosario di Pompei, with a sea procession followed by a fireworks display.
The area is famous for its caves, including the Grotta Zinzulusa, the Grotta Romanelli, the Grotta Azzurra and the Grotta Palombara. The town also holds the Castello Aragonese.
