Nughedu Santa Vittoria

Province: Oristano · Region: Sardinia · Population: 508 · Postal code: 09080

The second name comes from a monastery that is no longer there: at Pranu Santa Vittoria stood a Benedictine house, and the ruins of the church dedicated to the saint remain. Above the village, on Monte Santa Vittoria, the wood of Assai is a refuge with fallow deer, and holm oaks and cork oaks centuries old.

Into the trachyte hill of Sas Arzolas de Goi seven rock-cut tombs are dug; in the territory there are also the domus de janas of S'angrone and a proto-nuraghe. The church of San Giacomo, of the seventeenth century, has inside the Catalan Gothic form, with a single nave, pointed arches and chapels between the buttresses, closed by great arches of red trachyte.
