The patrons of Cargeghe are Saints Quiricus and Julitta (santi Quirico e Giulitta), celebrated on 15 July.
From 2013 to 2015 Cargeghe was the home of the Sardinia Reggae Festival, for its sixth, seventh and eighth editions. In 2012 the village hosted the celebrations for the centenary of the birth of the Sassari journalist and intellectual Francesco Spanu Satta (1912-1974), whose book collection is kept in Cargeghe by the Biblioteca di Sardegna. The municipality also holds a Domus de Janas and the Pesciarzos and Volpe caves.
