The main patron saint of Porto Torres is Saint Gavinus, venerated together with co-patrons Saint Protus and Saint Januarius in the Basilica di San Gavino. The feast of the patron saint coincides with Pentecost Sunday and is known, in the Sardinian language, as Festha manna («great feast»): over the three days of celebration, the street leading from Viale Indipendenza to Corso Vittorio Emanuele, passing by the basilica, fills with the faithful and visitors.
An early 19th-century painting already depicts the Feast of Saint Gavinus, testifying to the antiquity of the tradition. The town also holds the archaeological area of Turris Libisonis and the Antiquarium Turritano National Archaeological Museum.
