On 2 May 1628 don Ottavio Lanza was given licence to settle the fief of Nadore with eighty families: out of that came Bompensiere, which in Sicilian is still called Naduri, after the fief. It is a town of a single street, with the houses on either side.
In 1868 the comune was abolished and attached to Montedoro; they got it back in 1911, after the village priest, father Montalto, had fought for autonomy — and became its mayor. Bompensiere stands at 290 metres on Monte Marrobio, between the Gallo d'Oro and the Salito; nearby the Scimè and Marchese sulphur mines once worked. There are 610 residents.

Bompensiere celebrates the Holy Crucifix on the fourth Sunday of September, in the only church historically present in the town; the village was founded on the Nadore fief, part of the Barony of Mussomeli since 1486, at the will of Don Giovanni Lanza.
