The patroness of Giardini-Naxos is Maria Santissima Raccomandata, solemnly celebrated on 8 September, the day of the Nativity of Mary. Tradition holds that the feast is never moved to another date.
The town has two more, though. On 24 June Saint John the Baptist is celebrated, an old feast of the Borgo delli Giardini, born when people gathered to pray before the so-called Cona di San Ciuvanni, which is still there. On the second Sunday of August it is the turn of Saint Pancras, bishop of Taormina and first bishop of Sicily.
