The patron saint of Roccafiorita is Our Lady of Help, venerated in the sanctuary that stands on the summit of Monte Kalfa. Her story began with a vow: in 1923 three children of the town, Carmelo, Alessandro and Filippo, bought a statue of the Virgin at the local fair and promised each other that as adults they would dedicate a much larger monument to her. Construction of the sanctuary began in 1944, and on 24 May 1945 the sacred effigy was placed there: since then the mountain has also become known as the Mountain of Our Lady of Help and has become one of the best-known sanctuaries in the province of Messina.
The feast, which falls in the last week of August, unfolds over three days: on the last Friday of the month a procession carries the statue to the sanctuary on Monte Kalfa, where the first mass is celebrated; on Saturday the Madonna is carried in procession around the mountain; on Sunday she is brought back to the village, where one final circuit and fireworks close the yearly festivities. The town also preserves the church of Maria Santissima Immacolata, the municipality's only parish, rebuilt in 1888.
