For Corpus Christi the town covers itself in flowers: the Infiorata climbs from the church of the Carmine, down below, up to San Rocco at the top, drawing saints and biblical figures along the lanes. It has been going for more than twenty-five years.
The town was called San Pietro di Monforte, because it was a hamlet of Monforte San Giorgio; «Niceto» — from the Greek nìke, victory, like the valley it lies in — was added in 1873. Many left from here, first for Venezuela and the Americas, then for northern Italy and Milazzo. At the sagra you eat the sampiroto biscuit with lemon granita. There are 2,911 residents.

San Pier Niceto celebrates Saint Peter the Apostle on 29 June, in the mother church from 1581; the town was originally called San Pier Monforte, being a hamlet of the nearby municipality of Monforte San Giorgio, and only took its current name in 1875.
