The patroness of San Cipirello is Mary Most Holy Immaculate, celebrated on 8 September. The church dedicated to her was designed around 1841 by the architect Fra Serafino, who wanted to give it grandeur and sacredness by creating a structure inspired by the basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi in Palermo, following an urban layout with a square plan and an ordered grid of streets and squares dominated by the main church: the project's execution was later continued and taken up by the architect Achille Viola, who lived between 1850 and 1924, and who also defined the façade.
San Cipirello also preserves the church of Maria Santissima delle Grazie and stands beside the Castellazzo di Monte Jato, the site of the ancient Sican and later Hellenised city of Iaitas, documented by the Jetino civic museum and an important necropolis.
