The patroness of Santa Flavia is Saint Anne, celebrated on 26 July in the Soluntine basilica dedicated to her. For centuries the parish of Saint Anne also held jurisdiction over the nearby hamlet of Sant'Elia: only on 4 August 1945 did cardinal Luigi Lavitrano, archbishop of Palermo, raise the church of Porticello to an independent parish, after decades of requests rejected due to the opposition of Santa Flavia's parish priests.
An 18th-century agreement between prince Cristoforo Filangeri, baron of Solanto, and the heads of families of Sant'Elia bound the latter to take part every year, each with their own torch and the insignia of the confraternity of the Madonna delle Grazie, founded in 1763, in the procession of Saint Anne, in exchange for a chaplain resident in Sant'Elia, subordinate to the parish priest of the basilica. Not far from the basilica lies the archaeological area of the Hellenistic town of Solunto, where the Gruppo 63 literary movement was born, led among others by Umberto Eco.
