Wine here is as old as the kingdom: in the district of Ciandro, under Roger II, they made the wine for the Palatine Chapel in Palermo. Seven hundred years later, in 1824, the duke of Salaparuta began bottling a white from Inzolia grapes and called it Corvo: the first Sicilian wine in a bottle.
The town itself was born in 1737 around a watchtower with its baglio and farmstead: the marquis of Lungarini obtained the licence to settle it and put up the farmers' houses. A comune of its own since 1854, on the hill facing the sea it has the Art Nouveau villas of Palermo's summer visitors. There are 10,884 residents.

Casteldaccia celebrates Saint Joseph on 19 March; the modern town, founded in 1737 around the 16th-century Torre di Accia, became in the 19th century home to Corvo Vini, founded in 1824 by Prince Giuseppe Alliata, Duke of Salaparuta.
