Terzolas

In the middle of the village stands the palazzo alla Torraccia, which people in Terzolas also call casa Malanotti, after the noble family that lived there. Today the town hall occupies the ground floor and above it is the historical library of the Centro studi per la Val di Sole: a village of little more than six hundred people keeps the written memory of the whole valley. The parish church of San Nicolò is documented in the thirteenth century and was rebuilt at the turn of the nineteenth; outside the houses the Capuchin friars built themselves a friary and the church of the Sacro Cuore between 1894 and 1896.

The village covers a little more than five square kilometres between Malè, Caldes and Cles, and has a station on the railway that climbs the valley from Trento up to Mezzana. In the census of 2021 one resident in ten declared themselves as belonging to the Ladin language group: a striking figure for a valley where the speech at home is solandro and which, unlike the Val di Fassa, is not among the province's recognised Ladin territories.
