Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul
📅 Every year, on 25 January
On 25 January Rumo celebrates the Conversion of Saint Paul, after which the town's church is named; the territory also holds the Cima Stubele and the Tricorno.
In 1946, under the De Gasperi-Gruber agreement, the hamlet of Sinablana, where German was spoken, was detached from Rumo and passed to the province of Bolzano, to Lauregno: here the border between the two provinces was drawn along the language people spoke. The municipality is a scattered one, and its town hall is at Marcena.
Along the old road to the parish of Revò you can still see, cut into the porphyry, the wheel ruts made by the Romans: the val di Non was the drier way to the Resia and Brenner passes, and amber came through here. In the wall of Castel Placeri there is a Virgin and Child painted in 1479 by Antonio Baschenis, and between the thirteenth and the sixteenth centuries silver was dug in the mountains around, with miners coming from central Europe.
